How can parents become involved?

Q: How can parents become involved?

A:

We have many ways parents can be involved but recognize that all families may choose a variety of ways. Some options we have are:

  • Parent Workshops: We host 1 - 3 parent workshops each month on a variety of topics, such as sleep, discipline, potty training, etc.
  • Parent Committees: We have many committees parents can join, from our Yearbook Committee (which creates a class yearbook for each class), to our Literacy Committee (who oversee our Book Fair and author readings), to our Community Engagement Committee (who help plan service opportunities for both parents and children). We have 7 - 9 committees each year, many in existence were started by parents in past years.
  • Class Parents: Each class has one or more parent liaison that is a strong link between the teachers and parent body. If volunteers are needed for special trips or activities, the teachers call upon the class parents for assistance. Other responsibilities are determined on a project-by-project basis. Our very active Parent Association (PA) organizes fundraising events to benefit the scholarship fund.
  • Participation in the Classroom: Teachers often ask for parent volunteers for a variety of projects or just to attend as a participant for a certain portion of the class.

We hope to provide enough options so all parents can find a meaningful way to connect with other parents during this journey through nursery school!
