White Center for their weekly belly dancing class. Under the tutelage of our vibrant local instructor, volunteers and center members alike shook their hips and waved their arms.

The afternoon’s activities, which included a party hosted by the volunteers, gave everyone a taste of one of the senior center’s many programs that rally seniors every weekday for fun and exercise! Thank you to Credit Suisse for joining in and adding to this wonderful weekly tradition.
but it can be an incredibly worthwhile trip that we can learn to savor along the
way" as beloved counselor and organizer of the show, Carmen Levasseur said. At Greenwich House, with help from our talented staff, we try to emphasize that recovery can be fun.

The clients who participated in the show shared their talents, along with a little insight into their personal recovery story, through poetry, song, artwork or even a group get-down lip synching to Aretha Franklin's rendition of "Respect."

View some photos of the amazing artwork on display in the gallery that counselors set up as part of the show.
The Gift
By Bella Nerri

What can I give to Jesus for all he's given to me?
What can i give to Jesus, what would an appropriate gift be?

For a Lord who needs for nothing and owns all that is,
and all that is to be.
The only thing of any value that I have to give him,
is me.

I will praise your holy name in victory and
I'll still sing your praises in defeat.
Because to be one of your own dear Lord,
makes everything so sweet!

No one likes to go through the fire,
but if you're alive you definitely will.
But just to know and love the lord,
helps me swallow even the bitterest pill.

I sing the songs of thanksgiving,
and give to you alone my praise,
so that this way in the land of the living,
I may have nothing but blessing filled days!

So that my family is protected,
and that I may rest at night;
no father, my life is not perfect,
but I do my best to do what's right.

You said you'd accept me as I am,
and I believe you know me through and through.
Father, I'm glad that you no my heart,
no matter what this sin-filled flesh might do...

About Joey Campanaro

Joey’s devotion to the kitchen has won the hearts of New York diners at his widely popular restaurant The Little Owl as well as multiple other ventures, including his catering company Blackfoot Consulting, private events at The Little Owl, The Venue and as partner to Chef Mikey Price at Market Table. Joey cooks the food he loves, focusing on the freshest seasonal ingredients combined with the bold flavors of the Mediterranean and a few tricks he learned from his grandmother.

About Bruce Sanderson

Bruce Sanderson joined Wine Spectator in 1993 and was promoted to tasting director in 1995. In 1999, he became a senior editor. Born in Canada, he studied urban geography at the University of Waterloo, then earned a master’s degree from Queen’s University. Sanderson’s career as a model and actor sent him to Germany, where he first became passionate about wine. He entered the wine industry after moving to New York in 1990, gaining experience at specialty retailer Burgundy Wine Company and working as sommelier at Windows on the World. Under his direction, Wine Spectator’s tasting department organizes the tastings of more than 16,000 wines each year in New York, California and Europe, and maintains the wine ratings, restaurant awards and commercial auction databases for the magazine. Sanderson’s tasting responsibilities include the wines of Burgundy, Piedmont and Tuscany.

Featured Chefs

In addition to Joey and Bruce, Taste welcomes executive chefs from all participating restaurants. Throughout the night you can meet and greet the creators behind the cuisine you're enjoying.

The Foundation has generously supported Greenwich House, more specifically the Children's Safety Project, for three years running. Ms. Dickerson (center) has been instrumental in ensuring this support. We are so grateful to all of our donors for their generous contributions, without which we would not be able to provide the excellent level of service we are known for in the New York City community.

Through hard work from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), New York State Department of Health (DOH), State and City elected officials, the Committee of Methadone Program Administrators of New York State (COMPA), and local business improvement districts, community boards and police precincts, Greenwich House was able to ensure uninterrupted services for its nearly 800 clients that rely on the clinic for daily medications and counseling.

While officials finalized details for the temporary location, OASAS helped facilitate the opening of slots at other clinics throughout the city for Greenwich House clients to receive medication. Nearly 20 other clinics across all five boroughs opened their doors to allow for continuous services for clients. The Greenwich House clinic is one of the first in the state to successfully relocate after it lost its lease earlier this year.

“Greenwich House has a reputation for dedication to its clients. I am grateful to all of the state and local officials and community boards who supported us during this transition, as well as the other clinics around the city, who have allowed us to keep our focuses on providing vital services to those in need,” said Gail Reid, director of the clinic.

With one of the largest single-site client bases in the city, Greenwich House had been operating out of its previous location at 50B Cooper Square, since 1969. It will move to a more permanent location in NOHO following the completion of construction and licensing.

Greenwich House gives special thanks to the New York Department of Health and OASAS, especially Commissioner Ms. Arlene González-Sánchez and General Counsel Mr. Robert Kent, as well as Continuum Health Partners, including Ms. Gail Donavon and her staff, who first found out about the issue and stepped in to coordinate efforts. Greenwich House also recognizes Mr. Henry Bartlett, COMPA President, for his efforts in assuring all stakeholders’ needs were met.

To commemorate the 10th Anniversary, the Center welcomed New York State Senator Dan Squadron and New York City Councilwoman Margaret Chin for a memorial breakfast, where members gathered, shared memories, lit candles and recognized all who were personally touched by the tragic day.

Those who gathered acknowledged the special connection we all share as New Yorkers, and reflected on ways to build community and understanding in our unique and diverse city.
