Afterschool Art Studies Dubuffet

Artists at Barrow Street Nursery School worked hard on an interesting challenge which had a pretty advanced project to it. They started as always with a little free draw and some calming music by Mozart. Once we were ready to move on, their teacher Jim Sperber turned out the lights and they looked at the work of Jean Dubuffet. They noticed that although much of his work is abstract, there are images of people and animals in the sculptures and paintings as well. They also noticed that Dubuffet used a very restrictive PALETTE. Barrow Street art class uses technology to create

The Barrow Street Afterschool art class tried something a little different and broke out some technology. The class began with a projection to get everyone's attention. The atelier seemed intrigued with the projection and unbidden and got down to copying on their paper what they saw up on the screen. We used only black markers and not a single artist asked for any colors which painter Jim found amazing and awesome.     Read MoreĀ»
