2011 Taste of Greenwich House Serves A Flavor of New York

For the 700 guests, chefs and volunteers who participated in the Ninth Annual Taste of Greenwich House, presented by the Paul Singer Family Foundation, Monday, March 14 is a date that won’t soon be forgotten. View select photos from this year's event.

From lobster canapés and pork terrine with pickled radish, to Italian meatballs and fluke sashimi with mango and lotus crisps, the food surely stood out as the star; but, the best part about the night is that it raised critical funds that will support Greenwich House social services including HIV primary care, mental health treatment for victims of child abuse, seniors and people living with AIDS.

Forty of NYC’s finest eateries, with nearly 20 featured chefs in attendance, joined forces to provide a spectacular night for New Yorkers of all ages. Live music from the Steven Oquendo Latin Jazz Orchestra provided tunes to taste to, while the silent auction and surprise gift boxes featured fantastic prizes for guests to enjoy long after the night ended. More than 250 VIP guests got to catch up with Sara Moulton, On-Air Food Editor for ABC’s Good Morning America, while she autographed gift copies of her latest cookbook.

A Taste of Greenwich House is the primary fundraiser to support Greenwich House’s 12 different programs in social services, arts and education. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, in-kind donors, sponsors and participating restaurants, more than $177,000 was raised in support of the essential programs we provide to thousands of New Yorkers each year. Thank you to all who were involved with this special night. Above all, Greenwich House—like New York City—is about community, and it is our neighbors that help make Greenwich House the beacon of hope and support it is today.
