Remembering Nicholas Cleves

It is with great sadness that we honor the life of one of our former Greenwich House Music School students, Nicholas Cleves, who died in the tragic terrorist attack in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday, October 31.

Nicholas, who grew up in the West Village, attended our Music, Art and Play program for toddlers when he was 3, and then studied piano for many years at Greenwich House Music School. His teacher, Danyal Lawson, remembers that he was a curious and bright child, eager to learn.

Our hearts go out to his mother, Monica Missio, for her loss.

In tribute to Nicolas we offer “Adagio Lamentoso” from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, which premiered nine days before the composer’s death. Many consider this piece to be Tchaikovsky’s farewell to the world.

Peace and love, from all of us at Greenwich House.
