Acclaimed Performers Celebrate 25 Years of North River Music

North River MusicGreenwich House Music welcomed four renowned musicians as the 25th Season of the North River Music Concert Series continues this Spring. JD Parran, Joan La Barbara, Jenny Lin and Morton Subotnick comprise the stellar lineup of contemporary musicians performing at the intimate Renee Weiler Concert Hall.

North River Music—founded by Frank Wigglesworth in 1985 to provide a fresh impetus to the performance of new music—kicked off its 25th Anniversary Season on October 21 with one of the best new jazz ensembles, The Respect Sextet. Read the New York Times review of the performance

“Greenwich House’s offerings are mindful of the traditional aspects of any art form, but open towards the cross-pollination of the various arts that might occur when creating something new and of its time,” Music Director Menon Dwarka says. “Composers/performers selected for North River Music’s 25th anniversary come from various schools of improvisation and incorporate live electronics and different world music traditions. It is through this diverse programming that I hope to offer the public an honest account of the contemporary musical life of New York City.”
