Art and Soul of Drum Language

Tuesday, May 4, 2010, 4-5:30 PM

Lori Colter's original Rhythm Voice method is based on the synchronization of Voice and Pulse. In this workshop we will deepen and anchor our rhythmic feel as we vocally transform rhythmic phrases using traditional and non-traditional syllable-language, simple clapping patterns and melodic improvisations. We will delve into the exhilarating rare vocal art form known as Konnakol, which is the highly sophisticated South Indian drum language. In this supportive and musically stimulating setting, we will explore our rhythmic potential and experience the dynamic fun of our rhythm voice and group vocal interplay. Learn more about Lori.
