Kick off the 2011-2012 Ne(x)tworks season at Greenwich House Music as they perform works from the renowned British composer/performer Tim Hodgkinson.

Hodgkinson is best known for his ground breaking work as a core member of the avant rock group Henry Cow, which he formed with Fred Frith in 1968. Ne(x)tworks' projects with Hodgkinson began in 2008 at the Sonic Arts Research Center in Belfast, UK. In 2010, Hodgkinson composed his first piece written specifically for the ensemble, which premiered at the Issue Project Room. This new 30 minute work, Tree-Leaf Talk, utilizes the ensemble’s unique instrumentation and highlights Joan La Barbara’s vocal abilities. Other pieces on the program will be improvisations directed by Mr. Hodgkinson.

Ne(x)tworks is made up of Joan La Barbara (voice), Shelley Burgon (harp, electronics), Miguel Frasconi (glass and laptop), Stephen Gosling (piano), Ariana Kim (violin), Christopher McIntyre (trombone), with special guest Ha-yang Kin (cello), and Tim Hodgkinson, clarinet & conductor.
