North River Music Season 25 Opener: Respect Sextet

One of the best and most ambitious new ensembles in jazz” (Signal to Noise), The Respect Sextet kicked off the 25th anniversary season of North River Music series with music from their newest digital-only release, Farcical Built for Six (August 2010); selections their acclaimed album, Sirius Respect: The Respect Plays the Music of Sun Ran and Karlheinz Stockhausen (2009); and a collaborative composition/improvisation with the audience. The group is comprised of Eli Asher (trumpet, toys), James Hirschfeld (trombone, jamespectronics, toys), Malcolm Kirby (bass), Ted Poor (drums), Josh Rutner (reeds, radio, toys), and Red Wierenga (piano, keyboard, accordion, redspectronics). .
