Molly Hatch makes her New York City solo debut with this exhibition in the Jane Hartsook Gallery that explores drawing, form and the art of turning 2D artwork into a 3D masterpiece. She'll give a workshop discussing her techniques as part of the Pottery's Masters Series workshops.

In the workshop you will learn how to begin thinking about translating 2-D patterns, photographs, drawings and paintings into ceramics. In addition to handbuilding techniques, this demonstration will cover a range of techniques for decorating on both greenware and bisqueware. Techinques covered: Mishima (Japanese slip inlay), Sgraffito (slip carving), sprig molds, slip trailing, shellac relief as well as use of engobes on bisqueware and brushware on glazes and slips. You will go home with multiple handouts regarding glaze recipes, material sources and step-by-step descriptions of techniques demonstrated. This is not a hands-on workshop.
