Genre-spanning harpist (and Greenwich House faculty) Brandee Younger shares the new work featuring harpist Mia Theodoratus and pianist Courtney Bryan.

A New York native and classically trained artist recognized for her work in both the jazz and hip-hop community, Brandee Younger has created a unique niche in both traditional and non-traditional harp arenas. This young musician plays in a style reminiscent of Alice Coltrane, yet has developed a beautiful and fresh sound all her own.  Younger has made her mark with jazz royalty, playing alongside Ravi Coltrane, Jack DeJohnette, Reggie Workman, Charlie Haden, Bill Lee and Butch Morris. In popular music, she has collaborated with producers and artists such as Common, Ryan Leslie, John Legend, Drake and Ski Beatz.  Most recently, she was featured on the Grammy Award nominated album New York: A Love Story by R&B newcomer Mack Wilds. She is the leader of the Brandee Younger Jazz Harp Quartet and "Afro Harping: A Tribute to Dorothy Ashby," in honor of the late jazz harp pioneer.  When not touring, she teaches educational workshops and lessons at both Greenwich House Music School and her private teaching studio on Long Island. Tonight's show, a first exhibition of sketches from Brandee Younger's performance piece Prophetika, will feature Ms. Younger and Mia Theodoratus (bottom left) on harp and Courtney Bryan on piano (bottom right).
