MAY 22 - JUNE 12, 2014

New York, NY - The Jane Hartsook Gallery is pleased to present the Annual Greenwich House Pottery Artists Exhibition. Each Spring we honor and celebrate the talented individuals who sign up for class, prolifically make work, and bring vitality to our tight-knit clay community. The works on display are carefully selected by each artist, and represent their most successful piece or own personal favorite. A ceramic showcase this vibrant, varied, and vast cannot be found often!

“‘A sleight of hand’ can refer to an act of magic and working in clay is magical. Clay responds to our slightest touch, spins out forms, draws out our thoughts and can be pushed as far as the imagination is willing to go. But it's glazing that is a real magic act. When a piece goes into the kiln, it is out of our hands, but soon returns with results that are most often surprising and sometimes stunning. In an increasingly programmed, even dehumanized world, this hands-on tactile experience affirms the connection to our physicality and all of our senses.

No clay artist, no matter how experienced, can ever know everything about ceramics. The clay community is one that loves to share not only techniques but also inspirations. The Annual GHP Artists Show at the Jane Hartsook Gallery is that moment in the year where myriad explorations stand together and are shared with whoever walks through that door.”
