DESCRIPTION:
The Internship Program offers high school, college and graduate students a short-term work experience in the Pottery’s studio or arts administration.  Through hands-on experience, interns are exposed to the day-to-day activities of a thriving community arts organization, while given the opportunity to explore their own work in a studio environment.  Summer Interns assist with a variety of special projects ranging in scope from studio-oriented tasks, including kiln firing and mixing clay, to facility repairs such as painting, to administrative projects.  Interns have studio access during open studio hours, all stocked materials, and free firings.  Summer Interns work directly with the Studio Manager or administrative staff, depending upon the internship requested.

Our facilities include professional equipment and materials, including 2 gas kilns, 5 electric kilns, 2 large format slab rollers, 1 clay mixer, 3 de-airing pug mills, 2 clay extruders, 4 clay bodies, and an extensive inventory of glazes and chemicals.

ELIGIBILITY:
The Intern Program is open to United States residents over 18 who are enrolled in part-time or full-time academic study. Applicants should demonstrate motivation in their work, an ability to work well in a group environment, and a strong desire to expand their knowledge of the ceramic medium. Some studio experience is strongly preferred for those seeking internships in the studio.

DURATION:
Fall, Winter & Spring Internships duration and applications ongoing. Summer Internships are 1 or 2 months (July & August) applications postmarked May 1.
