DECEMBER 5, 2013 - JANUARY 3, 2014

New York, NY - The Jane Hartsook Gallery is pleased to present Kirk Mangus and Sebastian Moh in an unlikely pairing that brings to the forefront disparate approaches toward image making in contemporary ceramics. Both Mangus and Moh are adding to the traditional form and decorative ceramic tradition.

KIRK MANGUS

I always draw the places and people I see. I also try to make things out of clay. Clay is often the tie that binds. Function is a matter of perception. Working in a new place with strange materials and methods can alter expectations and lead to new directions. I have always found that the challenge of adaptation heightens the senses and lingers in the mind a long time.” -Kirk Mangus

SEBASTIAN MOH

“The essence of my work is to create a visual interest that will trigger an aesthetic response. The vessels articulate a rhythm that appeals to an abstract of universal human emotion. Art is an articulated arrangement of a profound idea. To create is divine, I just rearrange. My goal is to simply make good work.” –Sebastian Moh
