Studio Reminders
Emergency Procedures
In the event of a studio health emergency, please notify the nearest staff member as soon as possible. Please make sure your emergency contact information is up to date-- stop by the office today.

Open Studio Hours
•  Open Studio starts at 2pm Tuesday through Friday. Unless you are in a morning class, there is no entry before 2pm.
•  There is no open studio for handbuilding on Saturdays until 2 p.m.
•  If you are in a classroom in which an evening class takes place, clean up and exit by 6 p.m.
•  When it is extremely busy, please keep to a 3 hour limit. If there is not a space, come back later.
•  During evening hours, please do not linger in the glaze area or on the ground floor as it is disruptive for the class in session.

Glaze Room Etiquette
This time of year, the glaze room is busier than Times Square. Make glazing easier for all:
•  Push glaze bucket under the counters to make room to work in the space.
•  Always put the lid back on your glaze bucket as soon as you are finished.
•  Limit your work area and only set out a few pieces at a time to glaze in order to make room for someone else to work.
•  If you need to leave for an extended period of time clean up, so someone else can use that space.
•  With the limited space available for glazing, do not use the glaze area for handbuilding or greenwork.
•  Classes always have priority when it comes to glazing, please realize that in the evening, there can be up to four classes in session.

Daily Classroom Cleaning Routine
A reminder to all classes: please participate in an end of class cleaning routine. Please make sure you always leave the studio cleaner than you found it.

Cellphone Free Zone
Greenwich House is cellphone free, please keep phones on silent or vibrate and take calls outside, not in the hallway or garden.

Check the Glaze Shelves!
In a community studio setting, taking your work home as soon as it is unloaded is the best way to prevent breakage and make space for new work.

Registration Reminders
Summer Registration is open and classes are filling fast. Summer Term runs for 6 weeks: July 10 through August 18. Register online or in the office.

Slip Casting Class Information
•  The last day of class for Tuesday classes is May 30th and for Thursday classes is June 8th.
•  If you are planning on attending summer session please move your work in progress to the designated summer shelves. Make sure your work is labeled with your name and your summer class number (SS1 or SS2).
•  You may continue to work in the studio during designated open studio hours and your former class meeting time through the end of the 12-week spring term (June 26th).
•  If you are finished and not returning for summer session please empty your locker and take all your personal items home; all molds and items on the class shelf must be removed by June 26th. Anything left behind will be donated or discarded.
•  If you no longer want a mold make sure to dispose of it in the dumpster.
•  Please take a few minutes to fill out your class evaluation. Your input is very important to us.

Each of these firings has its own shelf in the kiln room; to participate leave your piece with its firing slip on the appropriate shelf. Now is a great time for a cone 2 firing, so fear not, and get your work to the shelf! Once there is a kiln load the work will be fired.

Spring in the Garden
We have all been anticipating the arrival of spring. This means we get to go outside more, breathe some fresh air and enjoy the serenity of the Pottery School Garden. Once again this year we are tremendously grateful for the gardeners (some of our members who generously volunteer their time) who are caring for the garden. Their work helps make that space a haven where we can take a break, eat our lunch or have a quiet conversation.

Help keep this space one we can all enjoy. Please do not put anything in the plant beds. Don’t take up all the seating with your wet pots. If you make a mess clean it up. And please do not use your cell phone in the garden. GHP is cell phone free.
