Take a Pottery Trip to Cuba
Nancy Myers (a student at GHP for 17 years) and her husband, Philip Levine (a tour operator for 25 years specializing in tours for artists) have created a tour to Cuba focusing on ceramics, January 5 – 12. It will be a welcome break from this year’s long winter recess, and the trip of a lifetime for GHP students, friends and family. Highlights include lodging at a historic 4 star hotel in Havana, visiting the University ceramics program to meet students and professors, and touring Fusterlandia, a community built completely with mosaic tile. The itinerary also includes the Contemporary Museum of Ceramic Art, the National Museum of Fine Arts, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, an organic farm, and the village of Cojimar, where Hemingway was inspired to write Old Man and the Sea.  For further information about this opportunity, see the community bulletin board.

Studio Reminders
Studio Sponges
Studio sponges are falling apart at an alarming rate! Please rinse sponges with clean water and ring out after use. Never use hand soap on the studio sponges or they will deteriorate.

End of Term–Planning Ahead
As you create and plan your projects please note that at the end of fall term we plan to start construction. All greenware shelves and classroom storage will be cleared and cleaned at the end of this term. Since the break is 5 weeks, there will be no carry-over of work in progress (greenware) from fall to winter term. Work may be left in the kiln room for bisque or glaze firing but all items on class greenware shelves must be removed by Saturday, December 8 by 5:45 p.m. for the winter break.
