The Greenwich House Music School Recital and Master Class Series exposes aspiring students to accomplished and experienced pianists and gives them the opportunity to learn from a master teacher. Each installment of the Series consists of a recital and separate master class by an acclaimed pianist. 

The series began in the early 1990's and was curated by then piano faculty and chairperson, German Diez. Past recitalists include Ruth Laredo, Marilyn Neeley, Alfonso Montecino, Sam Sanders, Leslie Howard, Jeffrey Swann, Evelyne Crochet, Pavlina Dokovska, Constance Keene, Goodwin Sammel and Rosalina Sackstein. From its inception, the series always included a recital performance followed by a master class for advanced students.

Following Diez’s death in 2014, after sixty years of teaching, the series was renamed in his honor.

Born in Santiago, Chile, pianist Ena Bronstein Barton began her career in South America, touring her native continent. After winning a national piano competition she traveled to New York to study with Claudio Arrau and Rafael de Silva. Her New York debut at Town Hall was received with critical acclaim.
