Greenwich House Music School has trained musicians of the highest caliber for over a century. As a non-matriculating institution, students are able to receive the kind of instruction they need, tailored to their specific educational goals. Edgard Varese, John Cage, Charles Ives and Henry Cowell were connected with Greenwich House in our early years, and our current faculty has worked with artist as diverse as Claudio Arrau, Pierre Boulez, Paul Simon, John Zorn, and Stevie Wonder. As a student, you will have the opportunity to interact with some of the pillars of New York’s downtown arts scene, through concerts, workshops, open rehearsals and social gatherings. We also have recording studio facilities on site for documenting your work, or if you’re a composer, our spacious practice studios are peaceful and calm, an experience similar to that of working in an arts colony, without leaving the five boroughs of New York. Few other schools can offer the opportunity for audience-building within one of the city’s most venerated arts communities. We look forward to partnering with you on your personal artistic journey.
