Kaitlin McClure

Pronouns: she/hers

Kaitlin McClure is a cultural historian focusing on craft and oral history. Finding it impossible to spend her days reading and writing about making practices without making anything herself, Kaitlin returned to her early love of clay, using her studies to inform her creative process.

Kaitlin grew up in Arizona but has lived on the east coast since 2008, when she moved to Washington, D.C. to get her BA in Anthropology at American University. She made the move to New York to get her MA in Design History, Decorative Arts, and Material Culture from Bard Graduate Center in 2014. Enamored with a city she never thought she’d love, Kaitlin has spent a year working on an oral history project with NYC ceramicists, supported by a Craft Research Fund grant from the Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design before joining Greenwich House Pottery.
