Born in New Jersey and raised in Las Vegas, Lynda DeFuria is a New York based singer, songwriter, actress and educator. Lynda holds a Bachelor of Music in Professional Music with an emphasis in Songwriting and Vocal Performance from Berklee College of Music.

As an actress and vocalist, Lynda has been featured on national TV’s Showtime at the Apollo, Holland America Cruise-lines, Lincoln Center, The Sydney Opera House and Off-Broadway. Some past favorite roles include "Seasons of Love" soloist in Rent, Olive Ostrovsky in 25th Annual...Spelling Bee and Emma in Jekyll and Hyde.  Lynda was the recipient of the BMI John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship Award for her song “Where You Stand" off of her debut EP, Alive. Her original piano-driven pop/rock music, which can be heard on her most recent full-length release Ticking Clocks, blends catchy pop hooks and quirky, yet heartfelt lyrics with powerhouse vocals. Along with four other trailblazing women artists, Lynda recently co-founded the feminist philanthropic theater company, The Shrill Collective, which puts on productions of female-centric works with 100% of all proceeds going towards a charity that directly benefits women and women’s issues.

As an educator, Lynda got her start teaching early childhood music/“kiddie rock” classes (ages 3 months to 6 years) all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. She has had the opportunity to teach chorus, songwriting and theater in various public schools with Waterwell, Manhattan Youth, New York City Children’s Theatre and UrbarnArts after-school arts programs. While ingraining technique and theory into her students’ practice, Lynda focuses on motivating the expression of their creativity and inner-artistry.
