Freestyle Love Supreme, the improvisational hip hop theater group originated by Lin Manuel Miranda, will be making their way to Broadway in the fall. Before their Broadway debut, they’ll be sharing their skills with teens at Greenwich House Music School.
The Freestyle Love Supreme Academy Summer Camp for Youth is for kids who wish to learn the basics behind freestyle rap, storytelling, rhythm and improvisational performance. This week-long youth training course gives students 5 days of three-hour daily training sessions in August, culminating in a one-hour performance for parents and friends.
Over the course of a week, we will be covering basic skills like storytelling, improvisation, rhyming and rhythm keeping. The focus of this camp will be overcoming fears, expressing yourself and being creative. Students do not need previous freestyle rapping skills but they MUST be able to enter the camp with a high degree of boldness and willingness to play and be silly.
Camp is offered August 12th – August 16th, 1:00pm – 4:00pm at the Greenwich House Music School.
Taught by Andrew Bancroft and Ashley Flanagan
