Stage Struck is a musical theater class divided by age that is designed to teach acting, singing and dancing, along with character analysis and improvisation. The curriculum for Stage Struck includes an introduction to current and classic musical theater repertory, including lessons on vocal technique and musical theater movement. Students work together on creating original musical theater numbers, as well as performing solos and duos. Instruction includes feedback on performance and development in a positive and constructive manner, while also encouraging the student’s decision making and problem solving. Each semester will end in a recital performance for family and friends.
Stage Struck is taught in partnership with the off-Broadway theater company Ars Nova and teaching artist Michelle Rodriguez. Michelle is a singer, songwriter, teacher and musical theater composer, currently at work on a new musical, “Micha,” to be performed at Joe’s Pub, summer 2019.
