The Young Artist Series, presented under the auspices of the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation, features prize winners and finalists of the biennial New York International Piano Competition at venues in New York, Connecticut and Washington, D.C. A roster of talented, emerging artists offer eclectic programs of classical piano music, including repertoire from the 17th century to the present.
Rather than the traditional competition model where the focus is on winning, The New York International Piano Competition provides an opportunity for contestants to perform, network, exchange information and cultivate a support system that will carry them through their pre-professional years. The competition is dedicated to providing artistic development, educational enhancement, seminars, master classes and performance opportunities.
Greenwich House Music School is pleased to host three programs in the 2018-19 season. Each recital is free and open to the public, held on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Renee Weiler Concert Hall. Unique to this series, we invite students at the Music School to attend a Q&A with the featured artist beginning at 7:00 p.m.
