Hannah Westerman

Pronouns: they/them

Hannah grew up in the East Village and now lives in Queens. She has returned to Hunter College to study Studio Art, but previously received a BA in Psychology.

Hannah is interested in ceramics as an embodied practice to translate perception, memory, and traditions. Currently, Hannah’s work explores materiality and detritus; inspiration comes through walking and noticing discarded remnants on the sidewalk. They discover forms and textures through these observations which they create through ceramics, sculpture, and textiles; they are especially drawn to these mediums because of their connection to history and craft. Hannah is interested in the translation of material, and the physical and emotional experience of re-imagining forgotten items.
