Michelle Im

Pronouns: she/her

Michelle Im is a Korean American artist who lives and works in Queens, NY. For Im, craft has the transformative power to shape culture and strengthen human connection. She decorates her ceramics with playful patterns drawing inspiration from animals and nature. Her project, ‘RAT x CHICKS’, is a play on words and reflects an inner world of fantasy and humor. In her intricate surface decorations, she pairs motifs that are deliberately absurd or out of the ordinary.

Her work has been featured in publications including Forbes, Ceramics Monthly, Cool Hunting, and she’s been interviewed on The Ceramics Podcast. She is a recipient of the Madeline Sadin Award at Greenwich House Pottery and is named a 2022 Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly magazine. She shows her work in galleries nationwide and currently also teaches at BKLYN Clay. She graduated with a degree in biology and art from The State University of New York at Buffalo and her dream is to one day breed rats with birds.
