Greenwich House Youth Services
Integrating art, play, and movement, into academic enrichment since 1942
About Youth Services
Through STEAM after-school classes, innovative camps, and special events, Greenwich House Youth Services (GHYS) provides a safe space for children and teens, aged 5-15. They explore their interests, develop essential life skills, and build self-esteem here. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive environment. We warmly welcome children of all abilities, cultures, ethnicities, and gender identities to our programs. Our programs foster personal growth through engaging activities.
Current Partner Schools
Our partnership with District 1 allows us to continue providing robust after-school programming five days a week. We serve students at both PS 15 and PS 19 on the Lower East Side. Our GHYS programs offer a wide range of engaging classes, from arts and STEM to more specialized topics. At PS 19 EVCS, our current offerings include baking, science, art, sports, and steady buckets (a basketball program). At PS 15 our current offering include art, sports, science, clay works (with kids’ modeling clay), and homework help.
New Partnership
We are excited to share news about our new collaboration with Greenwich House Pottery. This partnership brings the transformative power of clay directly to our students. Instructors from the Pottery are on-site at PS 19 every Tuesday. They teach grades 3K, Pre-K, and K. On Thursdays, they teach 1st through 5th grades. These hands-on workshops allow students to learn foundational pottery skills. They also explore their creativity and create unique pieces they can be proud of. This collaboration not only enriches our curriculum but also strengthens the connection between our different programs. It demonstrates how a shared love of art brings our community together.
